Purlin Rug

Purlin Rug

Designed in London and handwoven in India, the Purlin Rug features Eleanor Pritchard’s intricate graphic patterns inspired by the London skyline. Long narrow bars alternate with square blocks arranged in a half-drop repeat pattern, creating a stylish linear design with pared-back appeal.

Available in three sizes and the option of a hand-tufted or a flat-weave design.
Hand-tufted rugs have a pile and are manually made using a tufting gun. The rug design is placed on a cotton fabric which is stretched tightly over a frame. The tufting gun pushes wool thread through the cotton, which is fastened to the base of the rug. The rug is then sheared so that all of the loops on the top of the rug are cut, which creates the pile. Hand tufting allows for the creation of curved patterns which vary in strand length. Hand tufted rugs are extremely durable and can withstand high traffic.
Flat-weave rugs have a flat finish and no pile. Flat-weave rugs are manually made using a vertical process which involves tightly knotting each thread. A small braid is made with each weave, creating the most characteristic feature of this traditional technique.
